I got a great question from a potential client the other day, and I told him I was going to make a video on it.  The question was, What makes a great client, and what makes a terrible client?

Great clients are coachable.  They came to us because they recognized our expertise, and they pay attention to our advice.

Great clients are motivated to succeed in their businesses.  They bring that energy to their work with us, and it is contagious!  We love helping business owners succeed!

Great clients are pleasant to be around.  We know, sometimes folks are frustrated, but the clients that are generally fun to talk to really make things great for us.  We also try to return the favor!

Great clients appreciate what we do.  I just got off the phone with a wonderful client of ours, and he was very clear that we helped him tremendously, to the point that he called us a “lifesaver.”  I love hearing that!  Don’t you?

Great clients are timely in their complaints.  Not everything goes perfectly every time – I’d rather hear about a challenge or error right up front if we haven’t caught it. It’s always fine to go to the lead bookkeeper first, and then come to me if it hasn’t been resolved in a reasonable length of time.  But letting things stew for months is never a good idea.  We actually deeply appreciate constructive criticism, it helps us improve.

Great clients are clear in their communication.  We work to keep the lines of communication open, and keep anything we’re billing for in writing so that we’re clear on our end.  Clarity of communication and clear expectations are crucial in business!

Are you going to be our next great client?  We’d love to hear about you and your business!  Give us a call today at 801-692-0032 and tell me how we can help you!
