It is the end of 2021.  We are busy preparing for the New Year, and the first thing on our list is 1099s.

1099s are required to be mailed to independent contractors and filed with the IRS by the last day of January.

Not everyone receives a 1099, and they are not required for tax filings, provided all income reported on 1099 is reported on the 1040.

In order to provide a 1099 to your contractors, we must have their current address, tax ID number, and entity name.  This is typically provided on a W-9, which is available from the IRS here.

We encourage our clients to review their vendor list in QuickBooks Online with their bookkeeper and obtain W9s for all their contractors.  We can then prepare your 1099s for you.

Unlike a W2, which can be printed on plain paper, 1099s must be filed either electronically or on a specific form. Due to space constraints, we aren’t able to retain forms for past years.

For more information regarding 1099s for your company. please reach out to your bookkeeper or call the main office at 801-692-0032.
